If you’re an Instagram junkie like me and love to take photos you’ll like these photo editing apps. Or maybe you already have a great selection of apps you use to edit your photos but personally these are the ones I enjoy using for my own pictures when I’m on my phone so I thought I’d share them with you all.

Just to note it now – I don’t use every single one of these to edit one photo, I just use a combination of 2 depending on what I need to do. These apps are also all available from the Google Play Store and should be available for Apple users as well.

  • Snapseed: Snapseed is a free app that I love to use to edit the contrast, brightness, highlights, etc. because I find it really easy to use and it has a large range of editing options. This app also has a text feature which I use to watermark my images for my blog and Instagram
  • VSCO: VSCO is a well known and free app I use for the filters – I typically switch between a few of my favourite free filters (they have paid upgrades to access more filters) and will choose a percentage of how much of the filter I would like on the picture
  • Adobe Lightroom: Lightroom is a little more complicated to use in comparison to other apps – it’s an editing program that you can purchase, the initial app download should be free but you may have to pay to create an account – I would advise using Snapseed for a free alternative unless you want specific editing features available on this program – you can read up more about the program on Adobe’s website right here.
  • Afterlight: Afterlight also has some nice filters and editing features I like that VSCO doesn’t have like light spill effects, borders on images, etc. – this app is also free

I hope that if you are starting out and are looking for apps to start with that this helped, in the future I’ll make an updated apps post to show if I discover anything new. Let me know if you’ve found any great apps that you want to recommend!
